Our Cooperative, established in 2004, offers economical independent living for seniors over 62 in one of our 96 well designed units. Cooperative living provides a safe and accommodating alternative to traditional home ownership with tax advantages, secured equity growth, and freedom from the burdens of home maintenance.

What is a Co-Op
A senior Cooperative is a collection of homeowners who band together to establish a common living agreement to ease the cost and work associated with traditional home ownership. The Cooperative is a non-profit corporation that owns the building and property and provides various benefits to its members. Membership in the Cooperative is established through the purchase of a share which grants the shareholder the right to occupy a housing unit and access to all the common property of the Cooperative.
In addition to the share purchase, each owner pays a monthly fee covering their proportion of the expenses of operating the corporation. The operating fee covers the mortgage, taxes, insurance, most utilities, maintenance, staff expenses, and contributions to reserve funds for future expenses.
The legal affairs of the corporation are handled by the Board of Directors elected by the shareholders from among the membership. The Cooperative’s day to day operations are managed with the assistance of staff provided by Ebenezer Management Services, but all financial and strategic decisions are made by the Board with input from member committees.

Cooperatives are unique in that you have a say in matters relating to the facility and its activities. Each home has one shareholder/member vote. And at Realife, you're an important part of a community that turns neighbors into friends!
